Why is Outlook recording a time 1 hour earlier than my computer c.

Outlook is showing a sent time 1 hour earlier than my computer clock. Why
and how do I fix it?

Make sure the daylight savings time settings match between WIndows and
Outlook.

Hi Brian,

My friend has this problem too - forgive my ignorance but where do you
compare Window's time to Outlook's time - I thought there was only one Date &
Time section under the Control Panel? Sorry if this sounds like a basic
question but I'd love to fix my friend's frustration over it.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

Hi Milly,

I really thought I'd sorted it! I ticked the Daylight Saving box and now my
received emails have the recorded time correct BUT when I reply MY email time
is now 1 hour ahead!!!! What's wrong?

Hi,

We had the exact same issue until this morning. We tracked down where our
emails were getting their timestamp by changing the exchange server time to
verify that is where it was coming from. We unchecked the daylight savings
time on the exchange server and rechecked the box and it fixed our emails
being off an hour. I hope this works for you too.

Thanks
Terrie

We don't use exchange server so which of the fixes will work for us? I have
changed the clock on my PC about a 1000 times and it keeps changing back. Do
I need to run the Time Zone Data Update Tool?

If the clock on your PC is incorrect, then it is not an Outlook issue. What
operating system are you using?

If it's Windows 2000, you need the TZEdit.exe tool to edit the start/stop
dates for Daylight Savings Time, then change to another time zone, apply the
settings, and change it back to your time zone and apply again.

I am using winxp. The clock on my PC is correct. I have tried it with the
daylight savings time box checked and unchecked. Ususally if it is checked
the clock will be right for about an hour or two and then it will change and
be an hour off. If it is unchecked then all my Outlook emails have the wrong
sent and received time -- again off by an hour. This is driving everyone
crazy.

If you're running Windows XP and have the proper time zone updates installed
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933360) then your PC is synching its time
with a server that does *not* have the updates installed. Are you on a
network?

yes I am on a network and all servers appear to have the correct date and
time. I am checking to see if the time zone updates have been installed.
