Why is Publish Web in FrontPage XP unavailable?

After a computer crash, Fron'tPage XP was reinstalled. On the file menu,
"Publish Web" is greyed out and unavailable. Running Windows XP_SP2, DSL
connection, everything else works normally. Any suggestions?

I wish it was that easy! lol Sorry, I didn't make myself clear enough..
Publish Web is greyed out and unavailable when a project (web page) is open.
Also, I forgot to mention I'm running SP3 with Office. This worked before
the computer crashed and I did a clean install on the new computer. I've
also checked to make sure that nothing is disabled (under the Help-About
menu) and I've also tried using the Detect and Repair function but that
offered no change.

Close FrontPage so you start from the beginning.

Open FrontPage
Open the web (File->Open Web and browse to the folder holding your web
pages)
Then File->Open Page.

When the Web is open, the web can be published.

Okay, now you've hit on a problem I didn't see existed before. When I go to
Open Web and browse to where I have a ton of htm and htmls, none of them show
up - and down in the file type box, that is blank including the drop-down
menu. In other words, there are no file types listed in the drop down menu
so no files show above. Apparently, whatever is causing this problem is the
same thing that is causing the Publish Web to be greyed out.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

I hadn't thought to check that but I just did. FrontPage IS the default
editor.

Open Web will only show folders. You don't see the pages and other files
until the web is opened.

A FrontPage web is a website, which is a collection of folders that may be
empty, or may contain web pages and/or other files.

From your description I guess that you have been working on individual
pages, and not on a web site. In this case, decide which folder is the root
folder for your website (usually the folder that contains your home page),
and open that in the Open Web dialogue. If FrontPage asks to change the
folder to a Web, say "yes". If the chosen folder is My Documents or
some other important folder, do NOT let FrontPage convert it. Instead use
Windows Explorer to move your website to some other folder.

naturally, you are correct about only folders showing. Thanks for the
reminder. I had forgotten that on my old computer the Web folder was on a
separate drive and I did not redirect it this time. Thanks for clearing up
my mental block. It's working as it should now.
