Why is the "Follow Up" function (to flag a message) greyed out in.

I'm trying to flag a message for follow up, but the "Follow Up" function is
greyed out on my "Actions" menu. Any idea why? I have Outlook 2003.

Only thing I can think of is perhaps you had last clicked on a folder or
something similar on the left pane of Outlook (for instance, I use Folder
view and if I click on my Inbox last, a lot of my buttons gray out because
they aren't message options).

Try highlighting that single message again and see if the button becomes
active. If not, try right-clicking and see if you have the option to Flag
it.
