Why live underline link?

Boy, excel issues never end.

I have cell with a live link for e mail.

Thanks fine, but why is the cell to the right getting a live link? I did not
put in e mail or web address in it, yet it has blue and the underline???

Thanks

Go to the cell that has the live link. Use your arrows so you don't
click it inadvertently. Resize the column. See if the problem goes
away. If not, try arrowing over to the cell that has the incorrect
format, and go Edit->Clear->Formats.

HTH.

Geoff:thanks, that did it clear formats. But why does this happen?? I've
gotten it a few time. It's like then the formatting is bleeding over to the
next cell???

Sorry for the delay in response. Help me understand - even if you
re-size the column, the hyperlink is still carrying over to the next
column? Is that happening on a new sheet with no other data on it, or
is it just a single worksheet where that issue occurs? Let me know.

PS- I saw that you have a few posts in here where formatting is giving
you a hard time. You might want to go to your "Tools" menu, then go to
"Customize Menus/Toolbars" and put a "Clear Formatting" button on your
Standard toolbar. Alternatively, make a keyboard shortcut that does it
(Tools->Customize->Keyboard). That might be useful.
