Why many new messages after moving .PST to Desktop

H

Howard Sartori

Using XP PRO SP2 and OL2003 SP3, when I move my outlook.pst from the
notebook (from a week on the road) to my Desktop, Outlook "appears" to
download about 1000 messages, when it has just been updated on my notebook.
Why does this happen?
Thanks./Howard

outlook uses a file stored in the pst to let it know what was downloaded.
The file uses account names and possibly other information to identify which
account the settings belong to - so unless you move the pst to the identical
location on the other machine and use the exact same profile names, it's
always going to download all new mail - because to its account log, it is
all new email...
