Why picture sent back of text covers header text in MS Word 2007?

Hi Sults,

I'm assuming that you're talking about both header and graphic content in the header/footer layer of a Word document in this case,
and not a case where you want the complete header to be 'bright' rather than 'dim' when working in the document body layer?

Can you provide the steps you're using to build the Header in Word 2007? If you're using a predefined building block/gallery sample
vs creating your own header from scratch there can be different options available.

=============
Is there any option, that allows to bring header text in front of background
image? >>

Sorry, but this newsgroup posting deleted my long answer when I tried to post
it first, so this time I will be short.

Image is inserted into the body text area, but is increased by dragging so,
that upper side of the image matches upper side of the page. Image is sent
back of text. The body text is in fornt of the image, as it should, but the
header text (page number) is covered by the image. I want, that the image was
backwards to the header text also.

I have not found an option how to access header and footer using the ribbon
system. I use a custom made ribbon command for this purpose. It would be
nice, if somebody gives me a hint how one must access the header/footer area
by the authors of the ribbon system.

Insert, Header, Edit Header

Thanks!
Today, after several monts of painful use of the new office I finally found
a help command! The tiny blue question mark at upper right side... I have
spent hours searching it! Right after I found help, I discovered the header
command also. That happened about 1 hour ago, quite soon after my previous
post. I never thought that editing a header has something to do with
insertion. Old offices had this command in View menu. Although I have used
commands from the Word 2007 insert menu a lot (inserting tables, pictures,
text boxes) I have never noticed, that header is also there. For some strange
reason Microsoft has changed the pictogram too, so it is more difficult to
recognize the button.

But my initial question still remains. Why the picture is covering the
header text even if the picture order is set to "behind the text"?

F1 still works! ;-) Having read the rest of your problem in trying to
make a background out of image you inserted in the text, I can only ask
"Why don't you just put it in the Background in the first place?"

Page Layout, Page background, Watermark, Custom Watermark.....

I did not quite understand your question.
My picture is inserted into body text area (not in header area) using Insert
Picture command. The picture is an illustrative large scale scheme of an
instrument. The texts in the body text area are labels of the parts and
instructions, how to assemble those parts. The text is partially overlapped
with the picture, therefore the picture is sent behind the text. I am using
localised version of Word97, so I can not say, what is the exact English
command (following is a free translation), but I have used "order/send behind
the text", "order/send backwards" and "order/send to the background"
commands. But the image is still in front of the header text and hides it
from viewing.
How should I put the image into background, so that header text will be
visible?

You say Word 97! I thought you were using Word 2007! I don't have a 97
version to test. The Header and Footer are different than the "Body" and
the "Background" would be behind all regardless of ordering. In your
case, why not then remove the Header or footer, OR make the picture
smaller so as not to encroach on the Header and Footer?
