Why so many false postings

Why are there so many false postings on this forum? There are others in the
microsoft arena where this is not happening.

William,

It is not clear to a lot of new users of this newsgroup that the word
"access" in the newsgroup's name refers to the "Access" database
development product. I think some interpret it to mean "a forum for the
public to have access to Microsoft", so any question that is
Microsoft-relevant is fair game.

In addition to Steve's suggestion, part of it is simply because
microsoft.public.access is first alphabetically. If you open the
Communities Office webpage Access is... right there at the top. If
you're not an experienced computer expert, you may not realize that
it's just the first of a bunch of choices.

No, I meant why are there so many postings which are "false" - from
fraudulent people.

My version of OE is blocking pictures and stuff so I know they are
fraudulent ... like dear old "John" below with his 20 or so "Test" messages.

I have not seen this on other forums and I thought maybe Microsoft should do
a better job of cleaning them up here.

They do keep an eye on the newsgroups, and remove spam and malicious
messages when they become aware of them. However, except for obvious
virus filters, it's a human process, so the messages appear, are present
on the server for a while, and then (we may hope) disappear.

our friend "John" with his prolific "Test" messages is having a happy July
4th I see.

Where? I don't see them. Maybe they've been removed between the time
you download headers and the time that I do. I saw a bunch of them a
few days ago, but haven't seen any since.

You are right - I deleted them, re-downloaded the headers, and they are all
gone.
