Why the database size does not reduce after deleted several large tables?

Hi, I added some large tables to an Access database, the size increased from
several MB to over 20 MB. But when I delete these tables, the size of the
database still keep the same value as before. Why the database size does not
reduce after deleted several large tables? What can I do to reduce its size?
