why was my product key denied when i just bought it?

why was my product key for Office 2003 denied when i just bought it? I have
the receit to prove it, the seller was my college and they wont help.

Try the activate by telephone option. If there is some problem with the key
you can work it out over the phone.

number, but that was a recording of a dialed wrong number. I would much
appreciate it.

Go to www.microsoft.com and head for the support section. You will need to
make certain selections so that you get the phone number you need to call
them. Help with installation is still free, but you do have to pay long
distance phone charges. I've found them to be fast so you don't need to take
out a second mortgage for that call.

I don't know it, sorry. When you try to activate and it fails you should
then see the telephone option and the phone number, is that not the case?
