I am trying to create a pivot chart
from a table. I select the field from
the field list and attempt to drag and
drop - but Access will not allow me to

When I first loaded Office XP, I had troubles with pivot tables and pivot
charts not working.. I discovered a virus, actually that the system was
riddled with viruses, because I had been running a server OS on the laptop
for some demos, and the individual Internet Security / Antivirus would not
work. I saved the data as best I could, and "recovered" to factory-clean
installation with the individual OS (Win 2000 Pro). When I re-installed
Office XP on the clean system, pivot tables and charts worked just fine.
That does not mean your system is necessarily infected with a virus, but it
would certainly be worth a scan... if the cost seems prohibitive, I think
there is at least one free for downloading, and the last couple of copies of
Norton and McAfee that I've obtained were free, or almost so, after the
rebates.
