Why won't (ctrl + ;) and (ctrl + shift + ;) work?

Nothing happens when I try to insert the date and time. Anybody know
what I'm doing wrong? Or is there a setting I need to change?

If you select the cell and do ctrl+; space ctrl+shift+;
you should get a date time value in your cell. It works for me and is not
based on a setting. Your worksheet isn't protected is it?

the only thing I can think of is if you have an addin (tools=>addins)
selected which redefines these keys, but I believe that would be unlikely.

Tom,

Not protected, as far as I can tell. This is what my Help section
says: "Starting in Works 6.0 and Works Suite 2001, the Spreadsheet no
longer supports cell protection." It goes on to tell how to make it
read-only.

I don't know what an addin is, so unless I've played around too much in
this thing, I don't have it.

Any other suggestions, comments, etc. are appreciated.

Are you using Works? If so try Ctrl + D for date and Ctrl + T for time and
for both in the same
cell start with date and press space then time..

This is an excel group. You are using Works. Two different products. Some
things may work the same (simple formulas). Other things will not. I don't
know anything about Works, but it probably doesn't have the shortcut keys
your are trying to use.

Peo,
It is Works, version 6.0. I named the file "Distances 3", which shows
up in the top left corner. Just after that it says "- Microsoft Works
Spreadsheet."

Actually, I've haven't seen the word "Excel" at all, but aren't all
spreadsheets based on Excel?

Tried ctrl D and ctrl T - nothing happened.

Thanks for your time.

Open help in works and put in keyboard shortcuts, if there any they should
be displayed there.

Thanks Tom. I'm so ignorant I didn't know the difference.

Is there a Works forum anywhere on the net? Any suggestions where I
might find out what I want to know?
