Why won't my data source open when making labels?

Mailmerge-datasource problems

It's an excel spreadsheet. The error message reads "Word was unable to find
the data source requested"
Help!!

Which version of Word?

If you create a new Excel data source and connect to that, do you see the
same problem?

Is your Excel spreadsheet already open, e.g. either in Excel itself, or
because it is a data source in another merge document (or template) you have
open.
