Why won't Outlook 2007 open today?

This morning around 2 a.m. Outlook worked just fine but this afternoon it
won't open now, error message pops & then the programs abruptly closes itself?

What does the error message say? There are several possible causes and the
error message will help us know which fix you need.

And what might that error message say ?

Also
Try starting Outlook with the resetnavpane switch;
Start-> type; outlook.exe /resetnavpane
(note the space in the command)
