Why won't Outlook Today display for me in Outlook 2003

It has worked fine until a couple of hours ago. At that point I tried to
customize Outlook Today to adjust what tasks I saw. That didn't seem to work,
so I tried it again and then a third time I tried to customize Outlook Today.

When my attempts to Customize Outlook Today didn't appear to work, I exited
Outlook and re-launched it. In the Outlook Today pane I saw the error message
"Unable to display the folder. Out of memory or system resources. Close some
windows or programs and try again."

My data file seems not to be corrupt since I can see mail, notes, tasks, and
my calendar fine. But I get that message now whenever I launch the program or
click on the data file name in the All Mail Folders pane. And I never see the
Outlook Today pane.

I certainly have more than enough RAM, so that's not the problem. I only
have Outlook's window open, so that's not the problem. It also happens after
I reboot and launch Outlook as the first thing after logging in.

Perhaps it's significant that I added a number of tasks just before trying
to customize Outlook Today.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to get Outlook Today back?
