Why won't overlayed text publish on the server?

I am trying to publish a site using FrontPage 2002 and have an image as the
'Enter' button to the site, but whenever I add text to the image using the
Add Text command on the Picture toolbar, and publish it, I get an error
saying: "An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files. Authors - if
authoring against a webserver, please contact the webmaster for this server's
site. WebMasters - please see the server's system log for details."

I do not understand why this is causing an error as it has only just begun
happening. Would it be the server extensions on the server that are wrong or
an error with the server itself? Or is it FrontPage that is at fault.

it's impossible to say for sure but most of the time it's the server
extensions. you can have you host repair or remove and reapply them.

what make you think it's the altered image that's causing this issue?

When you type your text on the button, what kind of image file does it save
it as?
Maybe you can just right click that image file (in folders view) and select
publish selected files so you can send it to the server by itself.

another self-help method I've had success with on similar issues is to hit
file/ open web (or site) and type in the http:// address of your web (to
open the live web on the server) once it's open hit tools/ recalculate
hyperlinks, then tools/ site settings/ advanced tab (check the delete
temporary files box). then repeat the process on your local web.
