Why won't PowerPoint slides vertically center in print preview?

When I look at slides on screen they are vertically and horizontally
centered... just the way I want them. Yet when I do a print preview of them,
they appear at the very top edge of the paper... horizontally centered, but
not vertically.

Is there a solution to this.

Sounds like a printer problem, do you have the latest drivers installed?

Go to file Page set up under the Slide sized for click the down arrow and
select the page size you are printing to. i.e. 8"x11" Click on either
landscape or portrait whatever is right for you and then fiddle with the
width and height and number of slides. go to print preview and see if it
looks right if not go back and adjust the Width and Height. Or you could use
the Transparancy option and it should center them automatically. Your
printer won't know if you have transparency paper in the tray or not.

Yes I have verified that I have the latest drivers. The printer is an HP
Deskjet 882C.
Even with the latest, the prb still continues.

Both horizontal and vertical centering / margins look OK on screen.
But when printed, the horizontal is OK, but the vertical is not - the
image appears at the "top" of the page.

And here is some additional info... after I submitted the original problem
statement, submitted the same file direct (over the Internet) for
printing at FedEx/Kinko's. Before sending it, I used their website
tool for previewing the image. It looked fine in preview, and when
printed was perfect. Yet the same file, when printed on my locally
attached HP Deskjet 882C (with lastest drivers) does not properly
handle the vertical page centering.

Thanks for the suggestion. Have tried what you suggested frequently
but to no success. Something strange is going on. I have the lastest
drivers (HP Deskjet 882C). Everything is centered correctly on screen.
I can submit file for print to FedEx/Kinkos direct over the Internet
using their preview software (in which the image looks good). The
print comes out just like it should. Yet when I take the same Power
Point Slide and print to my locally attached printer, the slide shifts
to the top of the page, even though on screen it is centered. If I
over adjust the vertical centering when on screen, to account for
the slippage, it will print centered. But then it looks wrong on screen
(more margen [about 1/2 inch] at top of image than at bottom.

Steve,

I read the info at the noted link. And I can make the printer center
the image vertically by making the top margin about 1/2 inch larger
than the bottom margin. The print then looks good, but of course
then when the slides are projected overhead they no longer are
vertically centered.

This looks very much like a PowerPoint-HP DeskJet 882c compatibility
issue that I will just have to live with. (i.e., pain in the neck).
