why won't the slides advance with a mouse click?

My slides won't advance when I left-click my mouse. They advance if I use
the right arrow on my keyboard. Any suggestions on how to change this in
Office 2003?

I guess you already checked this but just to be sure

Slide show > Slide transition make sure "on mouse click" is ticked and then
apply to all.
