Why would a number appear in the same cell on about the first quarter of my sheets?

Hi

I have this book with about 300-odd sheets in it. It's a payment book -
I have a language school and each student has a payment sheet in this
book.
One of my staff found that on all the sheets from A to J the number
'4000' had appeared (that's 4000yen). I don't know why this happened
and I'd like to know if I can prevent this strangeness from happening
again.

Thanks for any help.

If the sheets are grouped, changes to one sheet affect all sheets in the
group.

To group sheets:
Click on a sheet tab
Hold the Ctrl key, and click on another sheet tab
OR
Click on a sheet tab
Hold the Shift key and click on another sheet tab
(to select the first sheet, last sheet, and all sheets between)
OR
Right-click on a sheet tab
Choose 'Select all sheets'

To ungroup:
Right-click on a sheet tab
Choose 'Ungroup sheets'
OR
Click on a sheet that isn't in the group

Thanks for that, but my staff didn't sit there control-clicking th
sheets to group them together

They wouldn't have to. It only requires a single mouse click to group
worksheets together. For instance, let's say "Sheet1" is the active
worksheet. If you wanted to make worksheet "Sheet100" the active sheet but
accidentally hit the "Shift" key while clicking on the "Sheet100" tab, every
worksheet between "Sheet1" and "Sheet100" would automatically be grouped.
You wouldn't even necessarily notice it because once you subsequently click
on any worksheet tab, the grouping disappears.
