Why would Word open with 500% view - maximum magnification (zoom)?

When I open Word, it opens with the maximum zoom (500%)? Other programs also
have this problem, e.g. MindGenius, a concept mapping tool. I suspect it's a
setting in my computer. I'm running Windows XP Professional. Any ideas?

If this happens only with the new blank document that you get when you
start Word without an existing document, then you have somehow gotten
the 500% zoom saved in your Normal.dot template. See
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/SaveViewAndZoom.htm for
instructions.

If it happens with all documents, the only fix may be to force Word to
behave by adding some macros to Normal.dot. See the section "Auto...
macros" at http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm.

None of this is going to have any effect on other programs, only Word.
