Widow/Orphan Control

I have been using Widow/Orphan Control for many years. I am currently utilizing Office XP and I am not able to get my system to recognize the protection so I am having to go in and manually cause information to stay together which is a lot of extra work and it is causing a lot of problems because every time it is printed somewhere else the pagination changes. Any ideas, help!!

Have you checked the paragraph formatting for the particular
paragraph/style?

I have prevoiusly checked the paragraph but had not thought of checking the style but I have now checked and everything "appears" to be normal and widows/orphan is marked.
