Width of the Page?

CHRIS C.

OK, could someone explain in very simple terms, how I can
change the margins on my web? In other words, when I view
my web online, it's too wide. You have to scroll left and
right to read it. Is there a way to set it up as a
percentage of the available width of the browser that's
viewing it?

Use tables to structure your page layout and set the width to 100%

Thanks but............

How do I do that with the web I already have, and make it
affect all the pages on the web?

You basically have to start over.

Can I fix it in FP2002? I have that one at home.

Also, I tried inserting a table of one row by one column
and pasting the contents inside, but it doesn't work. How
come I cannot paste into the table?

Thanks!

Chris

Chris,

You can do this in any version of FP. Do you currently have tables on your
page or using theme or shared borders?

I'm using a highly modified theme. As I said, I tried to
create a 1/1 table at the top of the page and expanded it
the length of the page. This forced all the copy down
even lower. Then I tried to cut/copy all the info and
paste it into the table, but it doesn't paste. I just
need to narrow the view a bit.

Thanks

Chris

When using a theme, which also uses shared borders, the only thing you can
do is to insert a table to control the content that is outside of the shared
borders. You can not insert the shared borders into a table, as they are
implement as tables.

I don't know much about this, but I think he is misunderstanding how the
table works. A one by one table is only a single table, he has to make
either a column or a row of 2. I could be wrong though.

He has to put his content into a single table that doesn't include the
shared border content.

If your text is not in a table in your pages (but say just paragraphs)
Select all of the text in Design View and then use
Table - Convert Text to Table (based on Paragraphs)
- then edit your resultant table properties

Set your table to 780 pixels and include everything within this table.

It will work for all resolutions and keep your data for spreading out all
over the place.
