wierd file names created

Hi all,

I have a file server in my office containing many excel and ms word files.
However i realise sometimes after an excel file or word file is amended i get
a wierd file name like EC47E000 with no doc or xls extension even though i
have disable hide file extension option in folder options. My files are also
of proper names. When i rename the corrupted file back to the original name
and extension, i am able to access the file. Hence why is my file converted
to such a wierd file? Is there anyway to solve this? Thks in advance.

the weird number appears
to be similar to the filenames
located in a temp directory.

if i'm not mistaken,
attachments are
copied into a temp
directory, being prep'd for
transmission.

similarly, if you receive a
file via email, it will be stored
in a temp directory, unless you
save the attachment/file into a specific
directory/folder.
