Wild Card

For the user doing a search in a database, can they use the wild card "*" in
the entry field?

Yes, wildcards can be used in Access. How to do so depends on where they
are searching. You say "doing a search" and "in the entry field". Neither
of these are Access terms. Where are they searching? Are they building a
query? Are they filtering a form? Waht "entry field".

If you need more specifics, you will have to give us specifics. We can't
see your screen. We have no idea how your file is structured. If someone
posted that exact question to you in email, would you have any idea how to
answer it?

I want them to be able to search in the forms using the binoculars??? I hope
you understand this because I am not that great of a programmer/access
developer. I know i can do what i want to do I just do not know how???

That is just a standard "find". I can't imagine why you'd need a wildcard.
Just put in a partial search.

An ACCESS way to truly scale down the results is to Right-click any field on
the form and use the "Filter For:" field. There, you can use the wildcards.
You can do this to multiple fields and using multiple values. This will
actually cut down the number of records displayed. You are basically
applying filters on the fly.
