Will Excel 2011 be compatible with Megastator other Excel add-ins?

Of course, the logical place to ask that question would be in a Megastat
support forum or pose it to the folks who write Megastat.

I downloaded Megastat 9.1 zip and found that Megastat is a standard
Excel add-in with a .xla file extension mad in 2001. That means there is
at least a chance that it will work, providing it was written with cross
platform users in mind.

Since no one has Office 2011, your best bet is to see how the add-in
fares in Excel 2004. If it works OK there, chances are pretty good it
will work in Excel 2011. If Megastat does not work in Excel 2004, you
might want to follow up with Megastat developers and ask them to support
cross-platform users. If they need help with making their code
cross-platform, all they have to do is post their questions right here
in this forum and they can get help for free.

Well, let's put things in their proper perspective first off... Excel is a
first tier, standalone application program: Megastat is an 'add-in' designed
to add capability to those versions of Excel that support VBA. It isn't up
to Microsoft to make their product compatible with the add-is, it's the
responsibility of the add-in developer to make their product compatible with
the application program it's intended to be 'added into'.

The best answer you can get is that *if* the only reason you couldn't use
Megastat was Office 2008 not supporting VBA, Office 2011 will remove that
obstacle by returning VBA to Mac Office. Whether the developers of Megastat
will produce a compatible version is up to them... I'm sure there will be
other changes in the program & VBA version that will have to be considered.

Likewise, if the reason for not being able to use Megastat is due to
something other than lack of VBA support it's up to the developers of that
add-in as to whether they can/will produce a product compatible with the
current version of Excel.

Either way, the most authoritative resource would be the producer of the
add-in. However, my guess at this point in time is that the most they'd be
willing to divulge is an indication of their 'intent' -- if that.
