will i lose my files if I remove program

Okay, this might be long. This am I removed a trial version of ms office
2003. I has ms office 2000 pro on the same computer. after i removed the
trial version, my outlook on the 2000 program isn't working. It shows up
with email in it, but I get a box that says "operation fails." when it opens.
I then have to close that box and outlook closes. My question is, if I
remove the office 2000 and then reinstall, will it fix this problem and will
i lose any of my files in the other programs, like word, excel if I remove it.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

While it is true that installing, deleting, reinstalling Office software
should leave your data intact, common sense says that you should back up
your data to a safe place before taking any action that you even think might
endanger it.
