Will loading Word 2007 replace 2003 or can I use both?

I purchased basic Word 2007 because my friends are using it and I can not
open the documents they send me because I am still using the 2003. I am
concerned about being able to use all my documents that are on my computer in
the 2003 version if 2007 over rides 2003.

As JoAnn has said you should have downloaded the free compatibility pack
from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en

With update to SP2 here:

However, now that you have purchased the program, if you still desire to
install it instead of returning it unopened to the place you purchased it,
please install it using the custom install and do not allow it to overwrite
the previous version of Word if you still want to keep Word 2003. You won't
really need it to read the 2003 files since Word 2007 will read 2003 format
files. If you do decide to keep both Word versions on the computer be sure
to read this article totally before installing. There is a specific section
about half way down that talks about an issue and possible fix with two
versions of Word on a computer.
