Will programs created with MS Office 2003 work with 2007?

My boss wants me to purchase MS Office 2003. He has programs created with
2003 and says they won't work with anything newer. Is this actually the
case? I hate to buy 2003 where it is so old and almose obsolete... how can
I convince him to move away from 2003, or can he?
Thanks!

Your boss is wrong.

Please explain "programs created with 2003". The closest thing to
programming is VBA/Macros in Office. Office 2007 will run most anything
created in 2003. If on the other hand you actually mean documents, 2007
will open documents created in 2003-97.

I'm missing some thing here; "your boss" wants "you" to purchase a version
of Office to work on "his" data / programs

Any case he's wrong

If you mean he has files created with the 2003 version, he's wrong. If you
mean he has other applications that work with that version, he could be
correct. I would suggest you find out exactly what he's talking about before
making a decision. Plus you may find it difficult to find a new legal copy
of Office 2003.
