Will the upgrade to Office 2003 dump my old Word files

I am down loading the Office 2003 and I don't want to lose all my Word files.

You shouldn't lose them HOWEVER... just remember the famous words of Chuck
Davis (a regular here): "Happiness is a recent backup!"

I assume that you actually mean "installing" rather than "downloading",
since Office is not legitimately available for download. Installing a new
version of Office will not affect your existing Word files, but you'd be a
fool not to back them up first anyway. In fact, you'd be a fool not to
back them up even if you're not going to install anything. They are worth
something to you, right?
