win98 problem opening .exe and .dll files

Hello,

When trying to open files from my desktop on win 98, Iget these messages now
where as before they opened no problem: 1: windows cannot find PROGRAM.exe.
2: a required.DLL file, PNCRT.DLL was not found.
This is stopping me opening a lot of my commonly used files. Can anyone help
please?!!. Thanks
