WIN98 WINWORD GPF Kernel32.dll

When going to any of the pull down menus in Microsoft Word
(using Windows 98, 2nd edition), I get the following error
message:

"WINWORD caused a general protection fault in module
KERNEL32.DLL at..."

What can I do? I just downloaded the internet explorer 6
upgrade yesterday. Could that have anything to do with
it?

Any suggestions? :) Thank you!!!
