window not opening full screen - cannot see the status bar (0/1)

Hello, I am fairly new to web site creation (I'm more of a network
guy) and I am building a web site for a business I am starting.

I created a 4 page site and I think I have sorted out most of the
little problems that have cropped up, however I have several issues
that I would like to resolve and have been unable to find a solution
to them. Which is why I'm here of course . Its at times like these
you ask people who know more than you.


Issue 1

If I preview the site thru frontpage or open the "index.html" file in
the directory that it is stored in, it opens fine, however, the status
bar is not visible at the bottom of the screen. If I maximize the
window it will show the status bar, but then I have a very small
horizontal line that extends from the right side (middle) of the top
banner, several pixels. This can be seen in the screenshots I took -
screen and screen2; the before and after shot.


Issue 2

a couple of the pages have a scroll bar and when I go scroll down on
the page and then hit one of the green buttons that I have on the side
to go to a different page, the entire page shifts down as the default
behaviour is to show the top of the page (I hope I'm making sense
here). What I want it to do instead is that if someone scrolls down a
page and the link bar is still visible, that if they click one of the
buttons it would take them to the new page, but the buttons would
remain in thier place. If the button they click on takes them to a
page that would not normally have a scrollbar, that onw would be
created, allowing them to scroll back to the top of the page and then
it would disappear.

To the best of my knowledge....
I think you need to go to "view" in the explorer menus and hit the "status
bar" option.
That's all I know!
