Windows 98 - which is best Microsoft Office version to buy ?

I have just bought a refurbished (dealer) Portege 3480 CT 12" for travel -
mainly simple email & word/excel use. Had wireless card installed. Notebook
capacity is only 64MB / 10 GB. But that's fine as the main laptop and base
terminal handles all other work. Tried to install my legal copy (multi-user)
of Office XP on it but obviously too big.

SO - what is the best Micorsoft Office Edition to buy and install to go with
Windows 98 - and who (Australia) sells these earlier versions. All I can find
on the Microsoft Office Website are prices for 2000 or XP.... Is Office 2000
what I need?

I can tell you that Office XP will run on 98 w/64 MB RAM. It's not speedy
but it does work. (I'm doing it myself, Office Pro!, on a freebie "craptop"
hand-me-down. And this system only has a 4GB hard disk.) 2003 will NOT
work - can't be forced to work either.

I have Office XP Pro on a refurbished (dealer) IBM laptop with
64MB/6GB in Australia.
It works fine. Why do you say Office XP is "obviously too big"?
