Windows File Protection on installation of Word 2000

H

Harry

I have recently installed XP-Pro. onto my computer. I
then tried to install Word 2000. The installation gets to
around 60% and then stops and gives a message
about 'Windows File Protection' and tells me that I must
install files from the Windows 2000 disk. However, I have
XP and so this does not make sense. I have looked at the
KB but what they have told me to do does not work
(run "sfc /scannow").

I will be very grateful for any help that I recieve.

Thankyou.

Hi Harry,

Typically this means your Windows system files are damaged. You might check
with one of the Windows newsgroups to see if they can advise you on
repairing them.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
