Windows Installer continues to initialize

Yesterday I loaded Outlook 2003 and immediately began
having problems with conflict with my "dla" for my CD/DVD
burner and ActiveSync 3.7.

After trying to reinstall and correct the problem, I had
to go to System Restore (using WinXP Pro along with WinXP
Office Pro) to try to get back running again.

I am now having a problem where everytime I open up an
Office XP Program, the windows installer initiates to do
a Windows XP installation.

I decided to let it do it's thing and I inserted the XP
Office Pro disk and it goes through some of the
installation and then indicates it can't find a certain
file.

Very frustrating...can anyone help?

Similar problem here... Am using Windows XP and Office 2000. After
installing service pack 2 from Microsoft everytime I click on Excel
2000 or PowerPoint 2000 icon or document the installer runs and tries
to install 2003 version. Have to click "cancel" numerous times until
normal 2000 version runs. Thanks, Ron M.
