Windows Installer keeps appearing after I installed Office 2000?

After installing Office 2000 the Windows Installer panel appears on my screen
after booting up. I click "Cancel", the panel changes to "Cancelling",
freezes there for 2 minutes, then disapears. This has happened every day
since installing Office, which works fine.?? My operating system is Windows XP
