After installing Office 2K with Run All From My computer, as a local admin,
each new user is prompted for installation media (Data1.msi) when they launch
MSWord or Excel, etc.
Microsoft's suggested workarounds (KB 312596 ) are not viable in our
environment - they only help when an account/profile can be identified up
front, or if we force the user to take some action. The first is not
feasible, the latter is highly undesirable.
We don't know in advance who the user will be in most cases (when we do, we
can create their account in advance and manually fix it - but what a pain in
the *). More importanly, we have accounts created on the fly when a certain
type of user logs in the first time. They are assigned to local admin group.
But each new account is still prompted as in this article. We have 1,000s
of users and this is a huge headache for us!
Is this a bug or we all just missing something?
