Windows Installer

Office 2003 and Office XP are both in my pc. I used Excel, Word, and
PowerPoint successfully until today. Now Excel and Word are okay but if I
try to use Powerpoint I get a Windows Installer notice saying Preparing to
install and after a while I get "Problem with shortcut This patch
package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that
you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify............"
I get the same message if I try to uninstall Office or try to download
PowerPoint Viewer from Microsoft. System Restore doesn't help. I think if I
could uninstall and reinstall I might be successful but I can't uninstall.
Hope I don't have to reformat.
I took a shot and copied Office in Program Files from a second pc into a
flash drive and then into Program Files of my sick pc but to no avail. I
don't know too much but figured I'd try that. Any help that is not too
complicated would be appreciated. TIA Stan

You receive the "This patch package could not be opened"
error message in an Office program

Carey:
I used the link you supplied and it worked like a charm. It was easy to
follow and quick. I am now as carefree as a bird with no concern about
perhaps needing to reformat my hard drive. Thank you ever so much for your
help. Stan
