I have placed the Windows Media Player in my PPT2007 slide but when I try to
play a .wmv file it says it cannot play this kind of file. Is there a way
arounjd this?

Thanks,

Vic

I wanted to use the video controls that come with media player; if I insert
the video in ppt, I will have to design controls for each video I do. Any
other solution?

Assuming the wmv plays in media player normally there should be no problem
in PPT 2007.

How did you insert the player and link to the wmv?
What is the exact error message?

I used the developer tool to insert the player. As a matter of fact I tried
playing the video through wmedia player and it will not play. I thought
Windows Media Player would surely play a wmp file (windows media video). The
error message says that I am trying to play a final with a "." configuration
not recognized by the player. Any other slick way of introducing video
controls?

You might need to 'fix' the wmv. It probably has an unusual codec.
Download the free Media Encoder and use the convert function.

Bingo!! Problem solved!! You are the best; thanks so much for solving my
problem. Another solution that also worked is to download the latest version
of Windows Media Player. I like your solution better, though, because it
would work for users who do not have the latest media player.
