"Windows Mobile 5.0 and Active Sync 4.X problems"

I just received a hx2795b iPaq with Windoes Mobile 5.o and Active Sync 4.1.
When I cradle it for the 1st time upon computer startup, it goes well. If I
uncradle it and RE-CRADEL it, it says i need to install Active Sync 4.0 or
higher on my PC. Any thoughts? This is getting frustrating.
