Windows shuts down on me without asking me first

Dear everyone,

Recently, I don't know for what reason, I experienced at least three times
that my computer shut down on me when I was trying to run three or four
different programs; and it did not happen this way before. I have FreeRam Pro
and I watched it closely to make sure my computer is not overloaded. But my
computer would shut down when I am in the middle of clicking somthing. For
example, I watch some TV channel while running my MSN messenger, Kazza and
then I click on something and the Windows would just shut down and restart.
How weird? Anyone can help?

Well, I have all the protection I need to protect my computer. Secondly, I
know how to adjust the Power or timing shut down system and so on.

Thanks,
Tom

Ever thought of posting to a group for the relevant OS rather than one for
OFFICE?

Hi,

I sense a hardware issue here. Just check if your CPU fan is working
fine. Is this restart phenomenon periodic?(i.e, does the comp restarts after
10 min or 15 min) Unexpected restarts happen if CPU is hot.

Thanks, Balaji R,

And I apologize for posting my message at a wrong place; it took me quiet
some time to get use to finding the right thing or webpage I want from
www.microsoft.com.

No, restart phenomenon is not periodic and I think CPU being too hot might
be the cause. I think my CPU fan works fine because every now and then I
would hear some noise from the fan. But when I looked from bottom of my
laptop, I saw some accumulated dust bunnies on the outside fan, not too much
though and I got rid of them afterwards. Do I need to open the case at the
bottom of my laptop and clean the inside? What is the proper way of doing
that? Your help will be highly appreciated.

Hi Tom,

I would suggest you to contact the vendor and have
the comp checked once. I am not sure on "how to
clean" laptop stuff.
