Windows XP 2003 Word does not properly number pages, starts w/2

I noticed that ever since I updated with service pack 3, that when numbering
pages with Word XP 2003, that it starts the first page with page 2. I cannot
get 1 to show. Is there anything that can be done that I might have
overlooked on my end.

This is a question, not a suggestion.

1. In a new document, View | Header and Footer.

2. On the Header and Footer toolbar, click the button for Format Page
Number.

3. In the ensuing dialog, make sure that page numbering is set to "Continue
from previous section" and not "Start at 2."

4. If the page numbering is set incorrectly, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm for instructions on
finding and editing Normal.dot to correct this in all new docs.
