Windows XP and Access 97

I get this error when starting Access 97 under Windows XP.

"A system Error Occured, or there isn't enough free memory
to start Microsoft Access. Close unneeded programs and try
again."

I have over 1 gig ram. So I don't think it's a memory
problem.

Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.
