Windows XP, Office 2K,Word doc, end-note problems

Hi,

I'm working on a Word document with 50+ pages, which was
formatted by someone else and now I'm working on it to
make the changes.

There are 200 end-notes in the document, and I'm unable to
delete the end-notes. When I delete an end-note in the
document, their numbers are not updated. For example, if I
delete end-note number 46, the end-notes following it are
not updated. So after deleting 46, in the document body,
the end-notes go from ..44, 45, 47, 48,... instead of 47,
48, .. getting updated to 46, 47. Also, the text related
to the end-note (reference), is not deleted when the end-
note is deleted in the main body of the document.

I'm able to add new end-notes fine, it's the deletion of
existing end-notes that is not working.

If someone can help me figure this out, I'll appreciate
that.

Thanks!

-Amit

Do you have Track Changes enabled? If so, you won't see the notes deleted
till you accept the changes.

Hi Suzanne,

That worked!! Thanks for your help. The "track changes"
option was checked, but without the "highlight" option.
So, when I accepted the changes, it updated the end-notes.

Just curious, will accepting changes have an effect on any
other part of the document? I'm just afraid of losing any
paragraph/sentence. Would you know?

Thanks again! Much appreciated.

If you have deleted text, then when you accept the changes, you're accepting
the deletions, and the text will be gone. Is that what you mean?

Hi Suzanne,

Yes, that's what I meant. Thanks again for your replies.
That was helpful and a life-saver :)
