windows xp professional & windows 98/2000

I have windows xp professional & am trying to open a microsoft word file on a
disk given to me by someone who has microsoft 98/2000 but when I attempt to
open the document it appears but the paragraphs are all out of order & in
places of the page where they should not be & I cannot cut & paste it. Should
I be trying to open it somewhere else & not in XP Professional word & is
there another program within XP Professional that I can do this.

Jake - try something simple like moving the left and right margins out. That
might resolve the problem. Or, use the "Smart Tag" to keep the "text only"
of the pasted items. You might want to use "destination font" on the Smart
Tab, but if that doesn't help change it to text only...then re-format your
document.
