Windows XP Profile Migration + Groove Data

T

Tom.

Hi Everyone,

We have just build a new Active Directory due to company merger etc and we
have over 40 individuals spread out geographically around the place using
Microsoft Groove. We dont use the relay server or management server and a
number of these users have over 1 GB of data in the workspaces etc.

Currently the users are logged into old domain and standalone and we are
goign to be adding the system to the new domain which means when they login
to the new domain their settings including Groove settings disappear. We
have backed up the Groove Account file.

Is there a way to migrate the Windows XP profile with the groove data over
to the new user and then have the user continue working or does the entire
workspace have to be downloaded again?

Thanks and talk soon.

Hi Tom,

So when you are logging into the old profile for the new domain, you are not
going to be able to access your old Groove settings because all of the data
is in the old profile. There is no supported way of moving data files from
one Groove installation to another outside of the multiple computers option –
that is put your account on another temporary computer and then fetch all the
spaces to that computer. Then you can log into your new profile on the new
domain and import your account from the temporary computer to new profile and
fetch the spaces over.
