I had to reinstall Office 2003 oem due to a motherboard/processor change.
Now everytime I open Excel, a dialogue pops up showing that "Installing:
Microsoft Feature"

No clue as to what the feature is....anyone have an idea?

Thanks

Hi All
forgive my ignorance if this post is not in correct section but my head is
exploding under the problem i am trying to fix with Outlook 2002.(Please feel
free to tell me if it needs moving to another section, spent 30 mins trying to
figure out where to post this!!!!)

I was using outlook 2002 with no problems when i was living in the uk about
6 months ago but have now moved to South Africa .I have set-up all my email
address(es) , pop3 and smpt fields fields correctly (comes back all correct
when click on ''test account settings''),
I always get the same error message immediatley i click the send/recieve
tab-''The operation failed''.
This message come up immediatley i press the ''Send/Recieve'' tab on the
toolbar(no waiting at all!!!).
(I know for certain that one of the accounts is identical to my partners
account which she accesses through Outlook Express with no problem
whatsoever!!).

I have seen that if i access the tools menu and send from the individual
email accounts(two on there) they send and recieve perfectly!!???
I also think the following are related problems:
When i change the ''Disable Schedule Send/Recieve '' on the tools menu the
identical error message( ''The operation failed'')come up as above(same quick
response as well)
When i try to change the ''Send and Recieve Settings'' on the tools menu it
does nothing(no response).
By the way i get exactly the same problem when i use Outlook Express as my
default email client??i click the send/recieve tab-''The operation failed''.
This message come up immediatley i press the ''Send/Recieve'' tab on the
toolbar(no waiting at all!!!)).

The only things i can think that is different from when i used Outlook 2002
correctly last ,was i downloaded a trial version of Office 2007 which i have
now taken off as it was only a trial which i never got round to using(seemed
to find that i wasnt able to access any functions/processes ?).Also i now do
not have MS Word as i use Open Office.

Well thats my problem has any techie people got on any sort of simple
sounding solutions as im a bit of a technophobe and still having have
problems getting use to the calculator age!!!!

Please Please Please can anyone let let me know if the problem can ever got
sorted.Tried going through Microsoft but seems im not registered to get
support for this product!!!! (Think twice about there email clients in
future!!!).I need it to sync with a PDA i have otherwise i would swap for
another email client . as im sure its the same problem im having?

Many regards and hope your able to give a bit of light on the problem

OK I downloaded this program and installed it....now exactly what am I doing
here? When I open it there is a list of programs....one of which is
microsoft office 2003....

Do I just hilight this item and choose "Remove"? And will that take care of
the problem or will I need to re-install Office yet again?

There is an indication that I may need to re-install all or part of the
program.

Pardon my ignorance...but then again if I weren't so ignorant on this issue
I wouldn't have posted in the first place.

Thanks

I'm not sure if that's what you need to use to resolve the problem. The
Windows Installer Cleanup utility is typically suggested when there is an
issue with reinstalling or modifying the installation - when the Windows
Installer is unable to find the needed files. All the Windows Installer
Cleanup utility does is zap the installer info in the Registry so you can
install Office again and correct the missing or incorrect information.

Are you logged on as the Administrator when you allow the Windows Installer
to run?

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email cannot be acknowledged.

Yes I am logged in as an admin...but I don't exactly "allow" the windows
installer to run. It just runs.

As soon as Excel pops open...and before a blank workbook is opened, a box
briefly displays "Windows Installer" "Preparing to Install" (I had to do a
print screen to actually see this) then a second dialogue
appears...."Installing Components for microsoft excel" "Installing:
Microsoft Excel Feature"

OK this continues to be a bothersome issue. My newly rebuilt pc has SATA II
drives and a dual core processor....but instead of a blazing fast open since
this "installation" insists on running each and every time that I open Excel
it takes forever for the program to open when it should take only seconds.
