It was not an error to delete it.
Winupd.dll is not a standard file and is supplied by spyware.
Try this:
Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
(get updates immediately after installation)
In microsoft.public.office.misc, "winupd.dll error" <winupd.dll
