I am running a Dell Dimension XPS T600 Pentinum III 600 system using
Windows 98. I am running Office 2000 with the reg fix update and SR-1a and
SP-2 service pack updates. About two weeks ago I installed Norton Anti-
VIrus and Norton Internet Security 2004. Problem with Word just cropped up
in the last few days. Running winword.exe /a does not help. I have gone
through all the fixs in
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm to no avail.
I have disabled the office plug-in in Norton and tried renaming the
Normal.dot files. I have tried the Office Fix routine and reinstalling
Office. I have also reinstalled Windows with no change. Just for fun I
ran regscan and SFC. Found a few problems but none of those fixes made any
difference.

Any help of guidance would be appreciated

I do not have any suggestions, but I started experiencing
similar problems when NAV began pestering me to renew a
subscription. I have repaired, reinstalled, and clean-
booted to no avail... Maybe Norton is the cause????
