with 1 notebook & projector how to run dual screens

When presenting with my notebook and a projector it would be nice to display
the presentation on the projector and still see speaker notes etc on my
notebook screen. Is this possible with only 1 external vga output? Thanks

Most of the recent laptops have dual monitor capabilities. While the laptop
screen forms one monitor, the external VGA output forms the other monitor
(which you can connect to the projector). You might want to read more about
multiple monitors at http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00476.htm.

If your laptop does not have dual monitor capabilities, you can add a PCMCIA
graphics card from VillageTronic - http://www.villagetronic.com/. Their
VTBook card fits in the laptop's expansion slot.
