.wmv stutter Outlook 2003

Since installing InfraView as an image viewer, it has become the
default viewer for any email image I receive. I like it because it
doesn't lose the animations of some pictures. Unfortunately, when I
receive a video file such as a .wmv, the audio has such a severe
stutter that it is rendered almost inaudible. It leaves the
impression two progams are fighting over the playback. InfraView says
their program uses the inherent audio devices in Windows and are
unaware of any problem. If I save the file and play it back with WMP,
it sounds normal as it does if I selectively reopen it with the
playback option inside InfraView. Two questions: Are there any
settings that can be tweaked to correct this problem? Or where can I
select a default viewer so I could switch InfraView off or on without
uninstalling it?

That's "IrfanView".

So, go change the file type associations to what you want. Then tell us why
you believe this is in any way an Outlook issue.

Because it is received in Outlook, makes sense, right? Last week I received
an AutoCAD file and couldn't open it because I didn't have AutoCAD
installed. Stupid Outlook! Now that I have the AutoCAD file on a memory
stick, I still can't open it. Will call support for memory stick tomorrow
and otherwise I go to the shop and ask for a refund or get a freakin' iPOD;
I heard they work.

I had all file types selected in Infranview originally and just went
back, cleared all, and selected only WMV. No change. I can still
play the clip normally in Windows Media Player or inside Infranview by
selecting Options->Start Multimedia Player (plug-in) which routes back
to Windows Media Player again and that plays normally as well. I
don't know if this is an Outlook problem or not, but there is some
conflict involving Infranview and Outlook and I'm trying all
possibilities. Up until now, I haven't gleaned any information from
the Infranview users group as to a potential cause either.

Just as funny this time as it was in the other thread. Thanks.

I still can't imagine why you believe this has anything to do with Outlook.
Make sure you have the most recent IrfanView (V4.10) and the most recent
IV_PLAYER (V3.35) plug-in from
http://irfanview.tuwien.ac.at/plugins/iv_mmedia.zip and try again, then if
it doesn't work, write to Irfan Skiljan and take it up with him.
